Children’s Choir Sing Beautiful Rendition Of Josh Groban’s ‘You Raise Me Up’

Over the years, the iconic Christian song “You Raise Me Up,” made famous by opera legend Josh Groban, has seen a lot of covers by different artists. However, not many folks know that the song was originally written back in 1977 by an Irish-Norwegian duo named the Secret Garden. The artists performed all-instrumental music, and the song’s haunting melody was composed by a man named Rolf Loveland. The melody is said to have drawn inspiration from such songs as Londonderry Air, which was also the same tune used in the popular Irish song “Danny Boy.” Loveland first performed the song at his mother’s funeral.

He said: “there’s something about the song people are embracing – which becomes emotionally strong. […] I believe people think of it as a song they use for their own stuff.”  In addition, the original studio mix utilized a violin. But, with the lyrical version, you can really the passion emoting from every word. The song stands on its own as a timeless classic and is treasured by millions for its inspirational lyrics and universal message that promotes peace, love, hope. This message comes through so clearly when you hear the song performed by these wonderful, talented youthful voices singing together as one. “You Raise Me Up” is not an easy song to perform, but these kids managed to pull it off perfectly.
