Ellen DeGeneres has been in the spotlight for many years and more recently, things have not always been positive for her. Because of the difficulty she faced, she decided to step away from the spotlight but it didn’t stop the difficulties.
The relationship that Ellen DeGeneres has with Portia de Rossi is well known, and they have been together since they started dating in 2004. They were one of the most high-profile same-sex couples in Hollywood for many years.
Eventually, they would see the need to run from Hollywood and the spotlight because of the scandal associated with Ellen’s talk show. They decided to retreat to the countryside in England, but recently, they had some devastating news. Their beloved rescue dog, Augie, passed away.
Ellen announced the loss on May 16 on Instagram, writing: “We had to say goodbye to Augie yesterday. We rescued him 12 years ago and he was so grateful. He gave us so much love. He will be missed. There will never be another like him.”
They also have two other dogs, a purebred poodle, and a poodle mix. In addition, they have two tuxedo cats, Chairman and George.
After selling their $32 million mansion in Montecito in 2024, they went all in after they moved to the UK. It was politically motivated, and they had to move shortly after because of flooding from Storm Burt.
They also shared a bit of their new life with a video clip of her mowing the grass. They captioned it: “Portia thought it would be fun to film my first time on the mower. She was right.”
Ellen’s tribute to her pet was more than just words, there was a slideshow that showed Augie as the years went by. The pictures were much the same as many of us would have of our beloved pets.
In addition, a few weeks before Augie’s death, an emotional video clip was posted that showed the dog sleeping in Portia’s lap.
