New Mom Takes Twins To Police For Help

Most new moms are just trying to get through the day without forgetting their own name, but for moms of twins it can be even tougher. Sofi Rodriguez had a bigger problem than most because her identical twin boys look so much alike that she sometimes could not tell who was who. She even tied a colored ribbon on one of their wrists to keep track of them.

One night the babies got sick and the ribbon had to come off. That left her staring at them not knowing which one she was holding. She decided the only way to fix it was to take her six week old twins to the police station and have them fingerprinted.

She later joked online that she should win “Mother of the Year.” It was a lighthearted way of saying she knew she needed help and went and asked for it instead of guessing. Other moms of twins have said they have been through the same thing.

Even the police had trouble telling the babies apart when she showed up. She asked their doctors too, and the local news said the doctors may have even confused them and accidentally given one of the babies the same vaccine twice. That just made it more obvious she had to go further to get things straight.

Sofi turned to Argentina’s National Registry of Persons for official help. The registry is in charge of keeping records for people from birth through all stages of life. On March 4 they gave her the certification that confirmed each baby’s identity.

With that settled, she put the ribbon back on one of the boys. Now she has a system again and knows exactly who is who.
