Donald Trump and Melania Trump landed in the UK late Tuesday for a three-day state visit. They arrived in Windsor after first coming into the country on Air Force One, and then the helicopter Marine One brought them to the castle grounds. The president and first lady stayed the night at Windsor Castle before the official program began.
Trump had received the invitation back in July when King Charles sent it to the Oval Office. It was a big deal with plenty of pageantry expected, but when the helicopter touched down it wasn’t the king and Queen Camilla who greeted them.

Prince William and Kate Middleton walked out to meet the American couple instead, shaking hands and leading them along the path. The Princess of Wales was noticed right away for how she looked and how she carried herself.
She had on a coat dress with buttons down the front and a fitted waist that gave it shape, matched with pointed toe suede heels. On her head was a Jane Taylor hat called the Neso, and a piece of netting came down to partly cover her face.
A fashion editor said she is a “style icon” and praised the outfit as a bold autumn choice. They pointed out that she added a vintage Chanel bag and that the whole look was carefully put together for the importance of the day.
Pictures of Kate quickly spread, with comments about her being a vision and how the strong color choice showed the weight of the event. People online agreed that she had once again shown her ability to mix tradition with a modern edge. It was also clear that her role as a mother of three did not stop her from stepping into the spotlight and making headlines with her fashion.

Donald Trump had a few moments of his own that drew attention. On Tuesday he was seen turning to Melania as they came off Air Force One and telling her to be careful as she walked down the steps.
The following day, after Marine One landed, he came forward to greet William and then Kate. According to lip reader Jeremy Freeman, the president leaned toward the Princess of Wales and said: “You’re so beautiful, so.”
The remark quickly became the talking point as the state visit kicked off. Some saw it as flattering, while others thought it was unexpected. Either way, it added another moment to the long history of interactions between the royals and visiting presidents.
