The Shocking Reason Doris Day Had No Funeral, Memorial, Or Grave After Her Death

It’s hard to believe that five years have passed since Doris Day passed away at the age of 97. She was a beloved actress who had appeared in some 30 movies and released more than 650 songs over her lifetime.

Many people are aware of the fact that Doris Day died in 2019 but a close friend has now revealed more about what happened after she died. It seems as if Doris did not want a funeral, memorial, or any markings for her grave.

When you think about the lifespan of Doris and the fact that she was busy for 50 years making movies and music, it’s absolutely amazing. She also managed to get married four times and have a child.

She was known for her movies, and her music but she was also known for her love of animals. She was a well-known animal rights activist and would fight for them regularly.

In 2019, she passed away at home after contracting pneumonia. Her charity, Doris Day Animal Foundation announced her death and said that there would be no funeral services, grave marker, or public memorial. She was cremated and had her ashes scattered.

A close friend of hers and her manager, Bob Bashara said that she struggled with the subject of death and didn’t want to have a funeral.

He said: “She didn’t like death, and she couldn’t be with her animals if they had to be put down. She had difficulty accepting death.

“I’d say we need to provide for her dogs [after she died], and she’d say, ‘I don’t want to think about it’ and she said, ‘Well, you just take care of them.’

“She had several when her will was written, and she wanted to be sure they were taken care of. She didn’t like to talk about the dogs dying.”

It’s amazing that she left so much to so many but she struggled so much with the thought of death that she didn’t want us to have a memory of her. At least she left behind many movies and songs that we can still enjoy.

May she rest in peace.
