Mom Sparks Backlash After Disney-Inspired Baby Name

A mom is getting a lot of comments online after she named her baby girl after a well-known Disney character. Some people say it is cute and sweet, but a lot of others really do not like it at all, and they are not shy about saying so.

Baby names have changed so much over the years, and it kind of feels like everyone wants something different now. You do not see as many Johns or Marys in a classroom, and parents want names that stand out and show a little personality.

That is what this mom thought she was doing but it has turned into a bit of a mess. A few commenters said the name will make her daughter get teased and one person said: “Imagine being an adult named this. These baby names are mad these days”. Someone else said: “Are you naming humans that will be adults one day? Or kittens?”

Another person added a longer warning and they said: “Definitely bring up the fact that kids are cruel. A unique name isn’t something to shy away from but a unique name that is indelibly tied to a character may not be desirable to your kid. Now imagine being in middle school with a Disney name.” And that kind of thing kept coming up in the comments even when others tried to be nicer.

Not everyone was negative though and some people stepped in to support her choice. One fan said: “People need to shut it. She can name her baby anything she wants. I think it’s adorable.” Another said: “Congratulations! It’s a wonderful name for your baby.”

The mom said the name fits her girl perfectly because her daughter has a sweet curious nature and big brown eyes that made her think of the cartoon deer. She said in an interview: “When I was giving birth, I was convinced Bambi was the most unique, unusual name that nobody would use.”

She talked about how they were planning to call her Paloma and she really believed that was settled. But one night she was reading the book to her son and suddenly the name hit her and she said: “What about Bambi?” and after that she did not want anything else.

She also said she is not bothered by the people attacking her choice because she feels unique names are a trend now, and folks will complain about anything, no matter what. She added: “She couldn’t be a Paloma now she’s my Bambilicious.”

She is not the only one who picked that name since another influencer once used it for her daughter, too. And a baby name site says Bambi comes from an Italian word that means child, which is probably part of why people keep choosing it.
