Avery Koonce was a shining star in every sense of the word. As a standout athlete at her Texas high school, she set impressive records in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes. Her passion for running led her to the Air Force Academy, where she joined the women’s track and field team. But her life was cut short in a heartbreaking tragedy that has left her family, friends, and the entire Air Force Academy community in shock.

Avery’s passing has sent shockwaves through the community. She was a dedicated and ambitious student who excelled in multiple activities, including cheerleading, powerlifting, band, and cross country. She had dreams of majoring in biology and minoring in kinesiology, aspiring to become a physical therapist for pilots. Her untimely death has left a void in the lives of those who knew her.
A memorial service was held to celebrate Avery’s life, attended by classmates from the Air Force Academy and her family and friends from Texas. Her family released an emotional statement, describing Avery as an “incredibly bright light” in their lives. They will forever be diminished by her absence, but they take comfort in knowing that she is at peace.
