Parents Defend Teenagers Destroying Minecraft Theatres: ‘Get Over It!’

Parents have defended their teenagers after they destroyed the movie theatres showing A Minecraft Movie, with one parent saying “It’s not Schindler’s List, people. It’s a kids movie. Get over it.”

Some teens have been destroying movie theatres while watching the film as part of the latest TikTok trend.

Police have been called on several occasions after fights broke out, vomiting, vandalism, throwing drinks and food around.

The behavior of some of the kids who went to see the movie has been excused as “boys will be boys” and “they’re just kids having fun” despite the vandalism and destruction that some of them had left behind.

Township Theatre in Washington Township NJ even shared a warning to parents on Facebook: “If your son was at Township Theatre last night, we strongly encourage you to have a conversation with him about his behavior.”

The worst of the chaos seems to be the part of the movie called the “chicken jockey” scene – where a baby zombie rides a chicken like a horse. The teens have taken this as their cue to shout the phrase, jump on the movie theatre seats and scream, while throwing food and drinks.

“It’s disgusting,” a 16-year-old told The Post: “I genuinely feel bad for the workers that have to clean it up. [People are] throwing food on the ground — it’s too much. The mess and the vomit or whatever.”

One theatre staff worker shared: “These teens trashed every single theater playing this movie and since we have so many showings we had to clean them in less than 30 minutes as we had crowds outside the theater lined up to go inside!”.

Despite the chaos, the movie which had its debut on April 4 has already earned over $162.7 million in the US and $150.7 worldwide.
