Trends spread fast online, and some are downright bizarre — like a recent warning against injecting semen as a DIY medical treatment.
An Irish man suffering from back pain began injecting himself with his own semen for 18 months. He ended up in the hospital with severe back pain and a swollen arm. Doctors found a buildup of semen in his muscle and diagnosed him with subcutaneous emphysema — trapped air under the skin.
Dr. Asim Cheema called the case “deeply concerning,” warning that injecting non-sterile bodily fluids is dangerous and can lead to serious complications like infection and inflammation.
The incident highlights the dangers of misinformation and desperation, especially when people turn to unproven home remedies instead of proper medical care.
