A woman has been fired from her job after leaving a “racist” note about her waiter on a restaurant bill
While dining at Cazuelas Mexican Restaurant & Cantina in Columbus, Ohio, a customer left a disturbing message on her receipt. She scribbled “I hope Trump deports you!!!” across the signature line.
She had spent $87.84 on the meal, but instead of leaving a tip, she chose to write “Zero, you suck,” alongside the offensive comment directed at the waiter.
One of the restaurant staff members later shared a photo of the receipt on Facebook, and it quickly began making the rounds online.
The name on the receipt, Stephanie Lovins, was clearly visible. After some digging, people discovered she had worked as a real estate agent for nearly three decades at Century 21, a major global name in residential property sales.
After the post went viral and sparked backlash, Lovins attempted to explain herself on a local Facebook group, saying that her “credit card was lost/stolen and someone attempted to use it.”
She said her phone had been blowing up with messages and notifications ever since the incident went public. But she claimed her main focus was making sure the matter had been reported to her bank properly.
Lovins blamed the message on “scammers and profile hackers” and thanked those who had shown her “patience” while she tried to handle the issue.
Despite her explanation, the restaurant’s marketing manager, Fabio Oribio, reviewed the CCTV footage. He confirmed to The Columbus Dispatch that it was, without a doubt, Lovins who wrote the comment on the receipt.
Following the confirmation, Lovins was let go from her job. Century 21 soon released a public statement addressing what had happened.
“We are aware of the situation with the agent in question. Hate has no place within the Century 21 brand, and we are taking this very seriously.” the statement read.
“After investigating the situation and connecting with the respective broker, as all companies affiliated with the Century 21 brand are independently owned and operated, we can confirm that this agent is no longer affiliated with the brand.”
