Prayers up for Candace Cameron Bure’s healing

In a powerful and deeply personal episode of her podcast aired on July 22, 2025, Full House actress Candace Cameron Bure opened up about her ongoing battle with bulimia—an eating disorder she’s lived with since her teenage years. Speaking with guest Lisa Whittle, Bure revealed that her struggle began at 18, after being put on a diet by her parents, which shaped her early perception of her body.

“I’m a bulimic. And I still say I’m a bulimic,” she admitted, explaining that although she no longer purges, the thoughts and mental challenges remain. Bure emphasized that her parents meant well and focused on health, but the experience left a lasting impression. “That very thing just shaped the way I looked at my body,” she said.

Now nearing 50, Bure has shifted her focus toward strength and wellness, not vanity. “I want to be able to open the peanut butter jar when I’m 80,” she joked, while stressing the importance of functional fitness. Still, being in the public eye hasn’t made things easier—she often receives harsh criticism about her appearance and aging.

Despite it all, Bure encourages self-love and grace. Her vulnerability resonated deeply with listeners, many of whom shared that her story helped them feel seen and understood. “Learning to speak with kindness to my body has been a journey,” she shared. “I hope you’ll join me in showing ourselves the love we truly deserve.”
