Co-hosts Sunny Hostin and Whoopi Goldberg had a heated argument on ABC’s “The View” about a video that went viral of Miranda Lambert yelling at fans for taking selfies at her Las Vegas show. The disagreement made the two co-hosts get very angry with each other.
Sunny Hostin said that people who went to concerts should be able to take selfies, especially since tickets were so expensive. “If I paid $757 for tickets, I’m taking as many selfies as I want,” she stated. On the other hand, Whoopi Goldberg stressed how important it was to respect the performance. “Give me the respect of watching me while I do my thing, or don’t come,” she said.
A video of Miranda Lambert stopping her concert to complain about fans taking selfies started the debate. Whoopi supported Lambert, while Sunny stood up for the fans’ right to take pictures. Because of the tension between the two co-hosts, Whoopi got up out of her chair and told Sunny, “Girl, turn on the TV.”
In a shocking turn of events, Whoopi took a picture with a viewer, which made people laugh and led to a commercial break. Some fans didn’t like Lambert’s response, but others agreed with her. “Team @mirandalambert,” said Lindsey, one of the attendees who stood up for the singer. No one needs her to say sorry. I was there and saw it all.” The argument brings up the ongoing conversation about how to properly take pictures at concerts and how important it is to show respect for the performers.
